MILWAUKEE, Wis. (June 1, 2014) —Registration for the eighth annual Dachshund Derby at German Fest is open and awaiting submittals from the short-statured competitors. German Fest is accepting registration for racers and costume contestants at www.germanfest.com from now until Tuesday, July 1, 2014. This year’s Derby events will take place on Sunday, July 27th.

Last year, the Doxies drew large crowds eager to cheer on the canine racers, making the Dachshund Derby an anticipated attraction. The dachshunds (racers and costumed) will walk in the Children’s Parade at 3:30 PM.

From noon to 5:30 PM., owners of the four-legged contestants will be able to enjoy the festivities while the pet sitting staff cares for the Doxies. The service is free of charge, however donations will be accepted on behalf of Midwest Dachshund Rescue. Dog owners are asked to bring a Vari Kennel labeled with the dog’s first and last name, a water dish, a leash, a first-aid kit, and waste bags to keep the racers safe and comfortable in the pet sitting area.
