Bronzeville Week home stretch includes focus on art, entertainment and more
Bronzeville Week, an official City of Milwaukee event hosted by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs now in its 13th year, is set to conclude with a variety of events and vendors that promote health, art, culture, commerce, and a positive atmosphere in the Bronzeville neighborhood for all to enjoy.
https://www.facebook.com/BronzevilleWeek/. The day continues with Bronzeville Hour from 4 – 8 p.m. at 1916 BLACK, 1916 N. Dr. MLK Jr. Drive. The event is powered by P3 Development & Culture x Design. Registration is required and can be accessed at culturexdesign.com. Also happening Friday evening is the new Bronzeville: Comedy & Karaoke Takeover featuring comedian Chasity Washington. The event will take place from 7 – 10 p.m. at Rise & Grind Café, 2737 N. Dr. MLK Jr. Drive.
Friday concludes with the Bronzeville Sleepover for Education. Occurring outside at Dr. MLK Jr. Drive and North Ave. from 7 p.m. Friday through 8 a.m. Saturday, the event works to solicit donations to support Milwaukee Public Schools students as they prepare to start the new school year.
Bronzeville Week concludes on Saturday, August 10, and the day begins with Pancakes & Poetry. Hosted by Mario the Poet, the event begins at 9:30 a.m. at Rise & Grind Café, 2737 N. Dr. MLK Jr. Drive. Next, The Bronzeville Ride will meet up at 10 a.m. with the ride starting at 10:30 a.m. at Niche Book Bar, 1937 N. Dr. MLK Jr. Drive. The day concludes with Evolve & Emerge Bronzeville Art Walk. The capstone art gallery showcase will include live performances, artists and an award ceremony. Presented by Historic King Drive BID No. 8, the Art Walk will take place from 4 – 7 p.m. More information can be found by visiting createavra.com/artwalk.
