Brewers Acquire Veteran Left-handed Pitcher Daniel Norris
Send Right-Handed Pitcher Reese Olson to Detroit
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired left-handed pitcher Daniel Norris from the Detroit Tigers for right-handed pitcher Reese Olson. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations David Stearns.
Norris, 28, who has not allowed a run or a hit over his last 5 outings (5.1ip, 1bb, 6k), has appeared in 38 games this season, all in relief. He has excelled against left-handed hitters, holding them to a .200 batting average (13-for-65, 1hr).Norris has spent his eight-year Major League career with Toronto (2014-15) and Detroit (2015-21). He has made 149 appearances, including 83 starts. Over the last two seasons, 51 of his 52 appearances have come out of the bullpen.
Olson, 22, was selected by Milwaukee in the 13th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft. He was pitching this season at Class-A Wisconsin, where he was 5-4 with a 4.30 ERA in 14 starts.
