Breast Cancer Screenings Bill Passes Assembly Committee Unanimously!
MADISON – The Wisconsin State Assembly Committee on Health, Aging, and Long-Term Care unanimously passed Gail’s Law (2025 Assembly Bill 263), which requires health insurance policies to provide coverage for diagnostic breast examinations and for supplemental breast screening examinations for an individual who is at increased risk of breast cancer. Representative Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) released the following statement:
“Early screenings allow healthcare professionals to see early signs of breast cancer in their patients, and Wisconsin women and families deserve accessible, affordable early breast cancer detection. I have received a huge stack of letters from constituents on all sides of the aisle–this issue isn’t partisan, and Gail’s Law is a bill that represents common ground that serves the common good.
“Gail’s Law has passed the Senate 32-1. It has now passed the Assembly Committee 15-0. I call on the Speaker to bring this bill to the Assembly floor for a vote so we can get Wisconsin women the care they deserve and move forward, together.”
Rep. Vining represents the 13th Assembly District, which includes Elm Grove, and parts of Wauwatosa and Brookfield. For more information visit Rep. Vining’s website here.
