Barrel-Aged Irish Coffee Stout, Mystic Knot, returns to Third Space Brewing for the 6th year

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – Feb 23, 2023 – Third Space Brewing will release its barrel-aged Irish Coffee Stout series just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. Mystic Knot is a 10.5% ABV Imperial Cream Stout that Third Space has aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels for seven months, then steeped with carefully selected coffee from local roaster, Stone Creek Coffee.

The special beer is inspired by the flavors of an Irish Coffee. Mystic Knot will be released on tap and in cans starting at noon on Saturday March 11th in the brewery’s tap room at 1505 W. St. Paul Ave. in Milwaukee. The event will feature live Celtic bluegrass music by local band, Derek Byrne and Paddygrass playing 1-4pm, accompanied by Irish dancers, and food by Roll MKE food truck from 12-5pm.

2023 will be the 6th annual release of the local brewery’s Irish-style stout series. Each year, Third Space creates new limited variants using the beloved Mystic Knot base beer. This year three exciting new variants will debut on March 11, including:

• Mystic Caliente: inspired by the flavors of a Mexican Hot Chocolate with additions of vanilla, cacao, chili peppers, and cinnamon, along with Stone Creek 3 Volcanoes coffee.
• Mystic Dude: inspired by “The Dude’s” favorite beverage – the White Russian, created with an extra dosing of lactose, along with Stone Creek 3 Volcanoes coffee.
• Mystic Double Shot Rum: aged first in Bourbon barrels, then finished in rum barrels for an intricate, layered flavor, that is then steeped with Stone Creek’s Green Bike Espresso Blend Coffee.

Mystic Knot, Mystic Caliente, and Mystic Dude will be available in 4-packs of 12 oz cans, and Mystic Double Shot Rum will be offered in single 16 oz cans.

I’m really looking forward to the Double Shot this year as it was aged in Bourbon and then Rum and dosed with twice the coffee.”
