Banderas hosts Grand Opening weekend in Walker’s Point August 15th-17th

New Latin-inspired tavern to offer tastings, giveaways, a raffle, and more

By - Aug 8th, 2025 01:23 pm

Milwaukee, WI – August 8, 2025 —Banderas, a new concept inspired by the rich traditions of “all of the flags” of the Americas is celebrating its recent opening at 408 W. Florida Street with tastings, events, a charitable raffle and even tattoos the weekend of August 15th-17th.

The new venue boasts a curated selection of agave-based spirits—particularly tequila & mezcal– alongside rums, whiskeys, and other spirits as well as South American wines and plenty of beer options. A robust craft cocktail/mocktail menu created by legendary local mixologist, David Gonzalez, also features.

Agave flights paired with a variety of house-made sangritas—traditional Mexican fruit-based chasers—will be central to the bar’s offering and make it easy to explore the massive tequila and mezcal selection on display.

On weekends, soccer fans will delight in a small breakfast menu as well as hangover helpers like Bloody Marias, micheladas, fresh juices, mimosas, coffee drinks, and even “Pipa Frîa,” — coconut water served straight from the source in a whole green coconut. A daily happy hour from 4-6pm features half-priced tapped beer and $5 off of tequila flights.

The cozy, sun-drenched tavern includes a “food vendor stall” that offers a rotating mix of catered meals inspired by the street foods of several different cultures. The regular menu includes popular street sandwiches, Central and South American specialties, a variety of rice bowls and even Tex-Mex inspired pizzas. Caravan Hospitality’s executive chef, Henry Meza, will also be tasked with rotating weekly “dinner plate” nights with family style offerings from up and down the hemisphere.

A bilingual staff, inclusive programming, and a strong neighborhood focus aim to bring diverse communities together. Banderas also plans to serve as a cultural hub, featuring televised soccer matches and other televised events in Spanish, along with themed happy hours, tastings, and social mixers.
