Assembly Republicans Advance Anti-Voter Resolution While Wisconsin Families Need Action on Real Issues

MADISON, Wis. — While Wisconsin families face a child care crisis, rising costs, and health care deserts, Assembly Republicans today spent one of their first floor sessions of the new year advancing a resolution that would make it harder for many Wisconsinites to vote.

“Instead of kicking off the 2025 session of our legislature by working to solve real issues facing our local Wisconsin communities and families, legislative Republicans are manipulating our constitution for their own selfish motivations,” said Mike Browne, deputy director of A Better Wisconsin Together.

The resolution advanced by Assembly Republicans today proposes to alter the Wisconsin constitution and enshrine dangerous provisions that would make voting more complicated and could harm many eligible voters, especially older voters, rural voters, and voters of color.

“Our elected leaders ought to be helping, not hindering, our ability to make our voices heard in our elections,” said Browne. “And instead of aligning themselves with the will of the voters and the needs of those who elected them, Republicans are instead trying to make it harder for us to have our voices heard at election time.”

Call your legislator today at 1-800-362-9472 and demand they address the issues that constituents care about most, and ensure that all eligible voters have equal access to the ballot box.
