MILWAUKEE (April 29, 2025) – The African American Leadership Alliance Milwaukee (AALAM) announced the appointment of Angela S. Adams as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. A respected civic leader, versatile executive, and certified high-performance coach, Adams brings a dynamic blend of strategic insight and transformational leadership experience to the role. Her leadership comes at a pivotal time for the organization working to positively impact the growth trajectory of the Milwaukee region.

AALAM experienced loss and heartbreak last year when its founder, Dr. Jeanette Mitchell, passed away shortly after retiring. The loss created an emotional and institutional void within the organization and played a role in Adams’ decision to take on her current title. Adams shares a deep connection to the mission along with her fellow African American Leadership Program (AALP) alums.

“Partnering organizations continue to benefit from engaging with AALAM,” said Adams. “Program impact data clearly demonstrates that a single well-developed leader positively influences organizational cultures, governance decisions, public policy initiatives, and business innovation creating immeasurable value across the Milwaukee region.”

Adams brings a wealth of professional experience and community connections to AALAM, which provides leadership development programming and access to executive-level networking opportunities for professionals who have a strong desire to take on increasing levels of responsibility at work and in the community. Adams served as the organization’s Board Chair before taking on the role of interim president and CEO in July last year. She successfully raised over $1.3 million for the organization, recruited and launched AALP Cohort 15, and developed a new strategic framework to grow the number of stakeholders connected to AALAM.

“Angela fosters a transformative vision grounded in results and rooted in community,” said Michael Morgan, Board Chair of AALAM. “Her ability to lead through complexity and connect across sectors is what AALAM needs in this defining moment.”

Moving forward, Adams is focused on sustaining AALP, the signature program of AALAM, by growing its leadership development offerings, and building stronger connections among alumni and the broader community. This includes cultivating relationships with stakeholders committed to encouraging the development of a bench of high performing corporate, entrepreneurial, non-profit, and civic leaders across the Milwaukee region. More than 250 Milwaukee-area professionals completed the African American Leadership Program since 2008, a number Adams expects to keep growing.

“As business and civic leaders seek to accelerate economic growth in the metro Milwaukee area, ALAM is poised to play a more active role in enriching and retaining top talent as a key partner in achieving regional goals,” Adams said.

Ultimately, Adams is working to ensure more leaders and organizations experience the value of AALAM.
