Andre Douglas Named NCAN Awards of Excellence Professional of the Year Winner
MILWAUKEE– (October 17, 2023) Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee (BGCGM) is excited to announce Assistant Vice President College, Career and Teen Services, Andre X. Douglas, as the National College Attainment Network (NCAN) 2023 Awards of Excellence Professional of the Year Winner. Douglas received his award on October 17 at the annual NCAN national conference in Dallas, Texas.
“I am honored and thankful to be recognized with this award,” Douglas said. “I serve alongside some of the best champions for students and young people who work diligently to fulfill the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee’s mission. As a team, we are proud to work with outstanding scholars and help them on their path to and through college.”
With support from his team, he has served nearly 800 Grad Plus members, including a caseload of college scholars that Douglas directly advises.
In his BGCGM leadership role, Douglas leads the Graduation Plus, Career Development, and Leadership and Service Programs. Through his leadership, there has been an overall increase in BGCGM Club member GPAs, attendance, FAFSA completions, and total students served. Additionally, 94% of the Grad Plus college graduating class (2023) have graduated with no/or manageable student loan debt.
Douglas is a first-generation college student who graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and received his Master of Science degree in College Personnel Administration from Concordia University-Wisconsin. Douglas exemplifies what it means to live your mission. Douglas’ mission and purpose is to help other people find theirs!
