Alzheimer’s Association Presents Treasure on June 4th

Third Annual Art Auction and Arty Party Benefit

MILWAUKEE, WI – May 5, 2014 – The Alzheimer’s Association will host Treasure, a Night in Venice, on June 4th at Cuvée Champagne Bar in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward. Treasure is an exquisite gallery evening and fundraising event in the Milwaukee art community to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association and its signature art program, Memories In The Making®, a platform that encourages creative art expression for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease.

This trendy festa will feature antipasti, lively libations, raffles and other surprises.  The evening’s focal point is a “must see” auction of art chosen from the Memories in the Making program.  Fourteen of these unique creations will be paired with an inspirational and artistic response by a Wisconsin fine artist. Featured fine artists include Pamela Anderson, Fred Bell, Kristy Goggio, Mark Mulhern and Katie Musolff.  In addition to the formal exhibit, there will be 40 additional pieces from the Memories in the Making collection that will be sold on a cash and carry basis.  The June 4 event will also feature Shelby Keefe doing a live paint.  Preview all of the art that will be auctioned at Treasure via our online gallery at https://treasure2014.shutterfly.com/

The event will be emceed by Lee Ann Garrison, Executive Director, Peck School of the Arts’ Design Research Institute and Art and Design Associate Professor, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Tom Strini, independent blogger, free-lance writer, public speaker and communications consultant.

Proceeds from this fundraising event will support the extensive programs and services provided to the community by the Alzheimer’s Association including the Memories in the Making program, support groups, family and individual care consultation, education and training, safety services and a 24/7 Helpline. Last year’s event raised over $45,000.

Memories in the Making uses the process of painting watercolor and reminiscing as tools of communication and social connection for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related types of dementia. The works of art and the accompanying stories provide glimpses into the essence of the artists and their rich histories.  The Memories in the Making program is currently offered at 39 senior facilities in Southeastern Wisconsin as well as in the general community.
