“All he did was shoot a cop”
Statement from Alderman Bob Donovan June 25, 2015
To my knowledge and based on media reports, a woman who apparently harbored the man who shot the Wauwatosa police officer last week has not been charged.
And, based on part of an interview WISN-TV did with the woman – Stephanie King – it appears she doesn’t think harboring a dangerous fugitive is a serious thing. According to media reports, she told a WISN-TV reporter, when asked whether she had been charged:
“No, ’cause I ain’t harboring no fugitive. ‘Cause to me, he didn’t do no wrong. He just shot a cop and then everybody come around when they shoot the cop, but when the cops shoot people do they come around? [Emphasis added]”
If she has not been charged, then I am asking the Milwaukee Police Department and the District Attorney what is taking so long?!
We expect the police and our prosecutors to enforce the law fairly, equally, and without prejudice. In my book, it is an extremely serious crime to harbor a felon – especially when that felon is the subject of a manhunt stemming from the shooting of a police officer.
To allow this woman to not face arrest and charges would be a miscarriage of justice, and sends a terrible message to officers and to the community.
What’s right is right, and the right thing in my view is to charge this woman for harboring as soon as possible.

I don’t watch much local news but I saw that interview. I don’t agree with Bob on much but I agree with him here. She should be charged if she knowingly let this guy hide in her house.
I haven’t heard the interview and probably wont take the time to. I swear the media is really good at latching on the lowest rung of society (no matter the race) to get great sound bites. This person’s comments are by no means indicative of how the vast majority of hard working inner city people feel. Many might not trust the police but only the criminal element would try to justify shooting at someone.
If she chooses not to participate in a civilized society remove her from society.
