Alderman Mark A. Borkowski Commends New Milwaukee County Sheriff for Speed Enforcement Efforts
I would like to publicly acknowledge the fine efforts of Acting Sheriff Richard Schmidt and his deputies for their heightened enforcement to crack down on reckless speeding and driving on our highways
I would like to publicly acknowledge the fine efforts of Acting Sheriff Richard Schmidt and his deputies for their heightened enforcement to crack down on reckless speeding and driving on our highways. I would like to thank the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department and encourage their deputies to go one step further and also patrol county roads, plus, I have no issue with tickets being written on our city streets.
This issue has gone on far too long and to anyone who complains this is just a revenue enhancement– tough. Our streets everywhere are out of control. Reckless speeding and driving is costing innocent people their lives or leaving them with unnecessary injuries and long roads to recovery. Instead of safe travel routes, our roads have become race tracks, if partnering with the Sheriff’s Department we can help our budget, all the better. Safety needs to come first in our community, especially if we want to be an attractive location for families to live and thrive.
I challenge all municipalities and departments to go beyond their boundaries and enforce traffic laws when and where they see an infraction. Let’s make the entire community safe, this has to be a top priority.
