770 North Enhancing Downtown Milwaukee with Green Roof
MILWAUKEE (July 28, 2020) – 770 North, the iconic M&I Bank headquarters that is being transformed into a modern, 20-story, Class A mixed-use facility, is installing a green roof this week with completion set for Friday, July 31, weather dependent.
The green roof will add to the great views the new offices of Michael Best & Friedrich at BMO Tower already enjoy. The rooftop improvements include a Heather mix (red blooms), Water Absorption mix (yellow blooms) and Giants mix (alliums). Vegetated trays will retain approximately 6,322 gallons of stormwater,
diverting this capacity from MMSD’s storm sewer. The trays are arranged in a checkerboard-type pattern with stone insets and walking pavers. Select portions are raised to provide texture.
Over 6,000 square feet, the green roof is one of the many new state-of-the-art systems, features and amenities at 770 North. The revitalized downtown office building also will be extensively modernized with:
- Exterior façade with new energy-efficient glazing system
- Lobbies and new interior improvements
- Modernized elevators with destination dispatch technology
- Streetscaping with an outdoor plaza along Mason Street
- HVAC distribution and control systems
- Generator, electrical substations and distribution
MM Schranz Roofing, Inc. is the green roof installer, Live Roof, LLC is the plant supplier and New Eden Landscape Architecture is the designer.
