Last month, Northcott Neighborhood House recognized the winners of Milwaukee’s 31st Annual Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant. Miss Juneteenth and Mister Juneteenth (ages 14 years old to 18 years old), and Little Miss Juneteenth and Mister Juneteenth Junior (ages 8 years old to 13 years old), were selected for their excellence and commitment in both school and their community.

In addition to participating in the Juneteenth Day Parade and festivities, the Common Council formally recognized the city’s 2023 Juneteenth Pageant winners at its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 11. Those recognized included: Miss Juneteenth – Adaobi Nnamuchi; Little Miss Juneteenth – Brionna Clemons; Mister Juneteenth Junior – Mason Donald

Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs, an ardent Juneteenth booster whose 6th District includes the home of the annual Juneteenth celebration, said she believes it is important to honor the young pageant winners. “These talented young people are future leaders in our community, and they have already shown that they are role models for their peers and others,” she said.  “It is important that we as city leaders take the opportunity to recognize their hard work and support them during their journey.”
