MILWAUKEE, WI (September 24, 2024) – Mount Mary continues to lead educational institutions in the Midwest in graduating diverse and low-income students, according to the Best Colleges Report by U.S. News and World Report released today.

#1 SOCIAL MOBILITY: Mount Mary ranks #1 in the Midwest among regional universities in this category, which measures the success rate of graduating Pell students based upon six-year graduation rates. The university has repeatedly earned this distinction.

#1 PELL GRANT GRADUATION RANK: Mount Mary leads in graduation rates among Pell Grant students (undergraduates from low-income households demonstrating exceptional financial need).

#3 BEST VALUE IN WISCONSIN: Mount Mary outranks all UW campuses in the category of best educational value.

ETHNIC DIVERSITY: Mount Mary remains among the top-performing regional institutions in the Midwest for ethnic diversity.

ECONOMIC DIVERSITY: With 67% of all students receiving Pell grants in 2023, Mount Mary is recognized as one of the top performers in the Midwest among regional universities. The report states: “U.S. News believes that Pell figures are the best available gauge of institutions’ relative commitment to access for all.”

“Among these institutions, Mount Mary students reflect the changing demographics in our nation,” shared Dr. Leah Adams-Curtis, director of institutional research. “Our demographics demonstrate our commitment to providing educational opportunities to an ethnically and economically diverse student body.”

“I am so proud of our new, yet consistent top rankings that represent our mission,” added Dr. Isabelle Cherney, Mount Mary president. “Mount Mary provides access to a high quality and affordable education focused on career readiness and resilience. We create opportunities for economic and social mobility, especially to underrepresented, first generation and low-income students.”
