MILWAUKEE—The 16th Annual Milwaukee Fatherhood Summit will take place on Friday, October 8 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Milwaukee Area Technical College Downtown Campus and Saturday, October 9 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. online. Saturday’s activities will be entirely virtual and will include confidential rooms for one-on-one services.

The theme of this year’s summit is Fatherhood: Navigating A Changing World. The purpose of the free, two-day summit is to bring men, fathers and future fathers together to identify solutions and resources that provide positive support to fathers.

The Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative and its collaborative partners will continue to connect men to education, job training, employment, physical and mental health resources, child support, driver’s license recovery, expungement and pardon education and more at the 2021 summit.

New offerings this year include on-site COVID-19 vaccinations, confidential credit report counseling, rent assistance, virtual mental health services, paid surveys and focus groups and an introduction to the Milwaukee Health Literacy Project.

The Social Development Commission is the presenting sponsor of the 2021 Milwaukee Fatherhood Summit. Other major event sponsors include: the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee, Rebalanced Wellness Association, Milwaukee Area Technical College, New Concept Self Development Center, St. Charles Youth and Family Services, Employ Milwaukee and Ross Innovative Employment Solutions.

The 2021 Milwaukee Fatherhood Summit is hosted as a part of the Milwaukee Boys & Men of Color (BMOC) Month, a powerful series of events rooted in the belief that when given the opportunity to succeed, young men of color will thrive and elevate our community. BMOC Month runs from October 6 – November 3, 2021. Events and workshops will focus on the topics of career readiness, mentorship, suicide and violence prevention and more with the aim of breaking down silos and building connections across the city. The full schedule of month-long events can be found here.

Conference admission is free and includes all workshops, resource materials, lunch and parking at the MATC Parking Structure on 8th and State St. The physical location for all of Friday’s activities is Milwaukee Area Technical College-Building C located at 1036 N. 8th St. Members of the public can enter at the 8th and Highland doors. Participants should stop by the lobby registration table for masks and to complete required registration or survey forms.
