Full Moon Tours
Enjoy a moonlit evening at North Point Lighthouse in Lake Park. With admission, you'll receive a slotted, 15-minute time period to go to the top of the tower to view the full moon. Danceworks' DanceLAB summer performance series invites emerging dance artists to develop and nurture their new dance works through year-round opportunities in the form of performance, internships, mentor-ships, space access and advocacy for artists serving the Milwaukee community. Our newest addition to DanceLAB 2016, DanceLAB Teen showcases original work from members of our own Danceworks Youth Performance Company (DYPC) as well as work developed in our studio classes, and featuring dances from many of our upper level technique classes, dancing new choreography from members of Danceworks Performance Company (DPC)! Our next FREE-FOR-ALL is this weekend!! Sunday, August 21st | 12-4 PM | Danceworks Studios | 1661 N Water St, Milwaukee, WI 53202 If you've been waiting for just the right time to try out some of Danceworks' most popular classes, the wait is over! Danceworks is having a FREE-FOR-ALL...a day of free classes for the whole family! This event will offer both youth and adult classes--so bring some friends and try a class or two, all for FREE! Register for any of Danceworks' upcoming fall classes at the Free-For-All and receive $20 off. THE SCHEDULE: 12:00-12:45 Swing Dance (adult) Swing dance is a lively style of social dancing. Some popular swing dances are Jitterbug, Lindy and Jive. Jazz (ages 7-9) A fun, high energy class set to popular music. Jazz dance encourages individual expression and development of personal style. 1:00-1:45 Hip Hop (ages 12- adult) A high-energy dance form using the latest music mixed with movements that are influenced by some of today’s top video choreographers. Tap & Pre-Ballet (ages 5-6) Designed to build coordination, strength and body awareness through a range of creative techniques. Introduces basic ballet & tap terminology, positions, movements, and dance class etiquette. 2:00-2:45 Adult Beg Contemporary (adult) Characterized by its versatility, contemporary dance can be danced to any style of music and united with other dance forms to create a new style of movement. Creative Dance (Age 3-4) Fun and games that explore creativity and self-expression and develop dance skills that prepare students to move into other movement disciplines. Focuses on coordination, rhythm and creativity. 3:00-3:45 Jazz (ages 9-13) A fun, high energy class set to popular music. Jazz dance encourages individual expression and development of personal style. Beg Tap (adult) Tap dance sharpens reflexes and improves memory skills and coordination. Beginning classes will work toward establishing fundamental tap movements, vocabulary and will work on basic rhythms and steps that progress into fun and lively dance combinations. At Ex Fabula Storytelling Workshops, experienced storytelling coaches guide you through hands-on, small group exercises to help you find, structure and tell your personal stories – and strengthen community bonds along the way! Many workshop participants have thrown their names in the hat after taking the workshop, and one was even selected Audience Favorite! Amdur Productions proudly announces the 5th annual Third Ward Art Festival, located in the heart of Milwaukee’s thriving arts and fashion district. Exquisite artwork of all mediums including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, sculpture, mixed media, paintings, drawings, photography, printmaking, wood and furniture will be represented at the festival. Free and open to the public, the Third Ward Art Festival showcases the work of more than 140-juried artists, 36 of whom are from Wisconsin. In addition to the incredible artwork available for purchase, attendees will be able to interact with artists through demonstrations and booth chats. With a wide range of price points and an ample selection of artwork, the festival offers something for everyone!
