Exhibition at MOWA: Art on Tap
Pabst. Schlitz. Miller. These brands are synonymous with Milwaukee where, until Prohibition, business was booming. Modern advertising was revolutionized during this time and brewers took advantage in order to convince a thirsty public that their brews were the best. This resulted in iconic images, elaborate signage, and unforgettable slogans that are still used today. Art on Tap | Early Wisconsin Brewery Art and Advertising is on view at MOWA July 16–September 24, 2016.

UWM’s Academic Adventurers Series: “The Great Red Island: Rediscovering Madagascar”
Gabrielle Verdier, professor emerita of French at UWM, will speak about her recent travels to Madagascar, where she spent much of her youth. With Juan-Marcos Rodriguez-Luis. Academic Adventurers talks begin at 3 p.m. in the American Geographical Society Library, third floor, east wing of the Golda Meir Library. A reception with light refreshments, sponsored by the Friends of the Golda Meir Library, follows each talk.
