Wes Larsen is an assistant professor of Design & Visual Communication at UW-Milwaukee. Working in graphic art, performance, writing, and experimental publishing, his studio practice focuses on the use of obfuscation and irreverence to call attention to the slippage between connotative and denotative interpretations. Recent works focus on infiltration, subversion, and dissemination through economic modes of production including laser printing, serigraphy, RISO, commercial print-on-demand services, home recordings, and film photography. Prior to working in academia, Wes ran the independent design studio Tocco in Fort Worth, Texas.
Throughout the fall and spring semesters, the Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series welcomes a diverse group of nationally and internationally recognized artists working across traditional, hybrid and emergent disciplines. Join UW-Milwaukee to explore and expand boundaries of creative visual practices alongside others with an interest in contemporary visual art.
