Francesca Hong Raises More Than $1.1 Million in BID for Wisconsin Governor, Enters Final Stretch With More Than $410,000 Cash on Hand
MADISON, Wis. — Democratic gubernatorial frontrunner and state Rep. Francesca Hong (D-Madison) raised more than $708,000 during the first half of 2026, bringing her total raise to over $1,100,000 through June 30th. Hong’s campaign has received more than 22,000 individual contributions from more than 14,000 donors, including 10,000 Wisconsinites. The average contribution is $47.15.
“We are proving that a campaign powered by working people can compete with the millionaire and billionaire class,” Hong said. “Our message of permanent affordability and our vision for building a better Wisconsin are resonating with voters across the political spectrum.”
While other candidates courted donors with deep pockets, Hong has distinguished herself by building a grassroots movement powered by high-volume, small-dollar donations. In this filing period, Hong had just one max-out donation of $20,000, with the rest of her support coming from thousands of working people who gave in $10s, $15s, and $20s.
The campaign’s fundraising reflects the broad coalition Hong has built through nontraditional events like:
- House parties
- Repair cafes
- Lotería game nights
- Art-making events
- Community gatherings across Wisconsin
By reaching beyond the traditional donor class, the campaign has brought thousands of people who are too often excluded from the political process into the race for governor.
Hong enters the final primary stretch with more than $410,000 cash on hand. Her campaign has already made significant investments in organizing, building the largest field operation in the primary and knocking tens of thousands of doors across the state each week.
“Our momentum has accelerated every month,” said campaign manager Becky Cooper. “Nearly 45 percent of everything we have raised came in May and June alone, and we’re not slowing down. We have the organization, the resources and the statewide coalition to win on August 11 and defeat Tom Tiffany in November.”
