MILWAUKEE, Wis). — Mount Mary University has been awarded a $250,000 Teacher Training and Recruitment grant by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development to support teacher training for high-need areas.

This funding will be used for the recruitment, training, mentoring and placement of 10 licensed teachers through the Mount Mary University Post-Baccalaureate Fellows Project. The program offers an accelerated path for non-traditional career changers entering education programs such as Early Childhood, Elementary and English as a Second Language (ESL). The initiative will partner with urban schools participating in the Milwaukee and Wisconsin Parental Choice Programs to address critical teacher shortages.

“This award is a powerful affirmation of Mount Mary University’s commitment to preparing the next generation of teachers to serve in high-need areas,” said Mount Mary President Dr. Isabelle Cherney. “I look forward to seeing the meaningful outcomes of this initiative and its lasting impact on students in our community.”
