Van Orden Continues to Support Costly Iran War

MADISON, Wis. — Yesterday marked 3 months since Donald Trump launched an illegal war with Iran, leading to 13 service members losing their lives and skyrocketing gas prices. Derrick Van Orden has been loudly cheering on the war, begging Trump to violate ceasefires and continue bombing Iran, while also calling the military operations in Iran flawless just days after 6 service members were killed.

“Derrick Van Orden’s continued loyalty to Trump’s extremism and reckless agenda abroad has cost Americans not only at the pump, but in an immense loss of life as well,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Rachel La Due. “Van Orden has abandoned the troops serving overseas and the working families in his district, all to prolong a senseless war abroad that is harming Wisconsinites back at home.”

In contrast, when Van Orden was campaigning in 2024, he spoke frequently about how he wanted to go back to a time where no new wars were started. His position towards the US getting involved in foreign conflict has shifted significantly the longer he spends in D.C.—now, he loudly cheers on Trump as the war continues with no end in sight.
