Watch: Baldwin Calls for Immediate End to Trumps Illegal War With Iran on Senate Floor
Baldwin remarks come ahead of Senate vote to stop President Trump’s war in Iran
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) took to the Senate Floor to condemn President Donald Trump’s illegal war with Iran that is putting American lives and taxpayer dollars on the line without sign off from Congress. Senator Baldwin’s remarks come as the Senate is set to vote on a War Powers Resolution to prevent further military action in Iran unless it is explicitly authorized by Congress.
Immediately following Saturday’s initial strikes on Iran, Senator Baldwin released a statement condemning this unauthorized military action and demanding that President Trump come to Congress before launching us into another potentially open-ended war. Senator Baldwin also co-sponsors the No War Against Iran Act to prohibit the use of federal funds for any use of military force in or against Iran without specific Congressional authorization.
