Milwaukee LGBT Community Center Announces Historic Relocation and Launch of Special Relocation Campaign
MILWAUKEE, WI — February 09, 2026 — The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center today announced its relocation from 315 W. Court Street to a new, more accessible space at 161 S. 1st Street, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s evolution and strengthening its long-term impact in Greater Milwaukee. The move returns the Center to Walker’s Point, where it first opened its doors in 1998. The relocation reflects the Center’s commitment to visibility, accessibility, and equity for the LGBTQ+ community, bringing services closer to the neighborhoods and transit routes most frequented by program participants.
“Our relocation is both historic and deeply meaningful,” said Ritchie T. Martin, Jr., Executive Director of the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center. “By returning to Walker’s Point, we honor our roots while positioning the Center for growth and innovation. With the support of our community and multi-sector partners, we will continue delivering the care and services our neighbors depend on today and into the future.”
The relocation also represents a strategic reallocation of resources that will significantly reduce occupancy costs over the next decade, enabling the Center to invest more deeply in programming and long-term sustainability. In the coming months, the Center is strengthening its clinical capacity and long-term resilience through partnerships and program expansion, including the onboarding of Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) and Medicare support.
A special Relocation Campaign is now underway, inviting community members, partners, and supporters to help the Center complete this milestone move. Learn more at www.mkelgbt.org.
