The Marquette University men’s lacrosse team (0-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) opens the 2026 campaign by hosting No. 20 Michigan (1-0, 0-0 BIG TEN). Opening face off is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CT inside the seasonal Dome at Valley Fields.

Rappis & Detwiler Preseason Honors

The Golden Eagles placed two student-athletes on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team, as graduate student Nolan Rappis earned  a unanimous selection, while senior captain Peter Detwiler also garnered recognition. Rappis, a 2025 All-BIG EAST Second Team selection, totaled 32 goals and 15 assists last season. He ranked among the top eight players in the conference in both goals and assists during the 2025 campaign. Detwiler, the lone captain for the Golden Eagles in 2026, earned 2025 USA Lacrosse All-America Honorable Mention honors and was also named to the 2025 All-BIG EAST Second Team. During the 2025 season, he recorded 37 ground balls, seven caused turnovers, and three goals.

Dewiler Named Preseason All-American

Detwiler continues to collect preseason recognition after being named a Nike Lacrosse NCAA Division I Preseason All-American Honorable Mention by Inside Lacrosse, as announced on Jan. 28, 2025. A native of Devon, Pennsylvania, Detwiler is a USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention, a two-time team captain, and the first Golden Eagle to receive preseason Inside Lacrosse recognition since prior to the 2024 season, when current assistant coach Mason Woodward earned second-team honors. Detwiler joins Woodward, Ryan McNamara (2017), Liam Byrnes (2016), and B.J. Grill (2016) as the only Marquette players to earn preseason Inside Lacrosse All-America recognition.

National Marquette Day Saturday

National Marquette Day is a long-standing tradition dating back to the 1960s that unites the Marquette community in celebration of the university’s pride, spirit and core values. This Saturday, alumni will gather in Milwaukee and at nearly 50 locations worldwide, spanning multiple states and stretching from Hawaii to New York City, to celebrate all things Marquette. While National Marquette Day officially adopted its current format in 1992, the event evolved from Spirit Day, a campus tradition that originated in the 1960s.

History vs. Michigan

The series between the Golden Eagles and the Wolverines dates back to 2018, with Michigan holding a 5-2 advantage in the all-time series. Last season, Marquette fell to Michigan in the 2025 season opener. The Golden Eagles will be seeking their first win over the maize and blue since 2023, and their first home win in the series since 2019.
