True Square Lodge No. 11 Responds to Warming Shelter Food Shortage with Rapid Community Action
Milwaukee, WI — January 29, 2026
After seeing a recent news report highlighting urgent food shortages at Milwaukee warming shelters, Worshipful Master Kenneth Ginlack, Sr. of True Square Lodge No. 11 felt compelled to take immediate action.
Recognizing the increased strain on emergency warming sites during extreme cold temperatures, Ginlack reached out to Todd Coleman, President of the Friends of True Square Foundation, along with Antonio Mayo, to coordinate a rapid community response. What began as a simple outreach quickly turned into immediate action.
Within a short period of time, the group mobilized resources and purchased:
- 1,008 breakfast bars
- 250 packs of oatmeal
- 300 packs of hot chocolate
to support individuals seeking shelter and nourishment at St. Ben’s Community Meal, one of Milwaukee’s critical warming and meal sites.
“When the need is clear, we move,” said Ginlack. “Extreme cold puts lives at risk, and it was important for us to respond quickly, collaboratively, and with compassion.”
The donation will be delivered at 11:00 AM on January 30, 2026, supporting ongoing efforts to meet the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity as warming shelters continue to see increased demand during winter weather emergencies.
True Square Lodge No. 11 and the Friends of True Square Foundation remain committed to service, partnership, and responding to community needs as they arise.
