MacIver Comments on Proposed Constitutional Amendments

MADISON — The John K. MacIver Institute for Public Policy applauds the state legislature for their action to advance proposed Constitutional amendments this week. The proposed amendments would crack down on DEI mandates, prohibit the closing of religious facilities in response to a public health emergency, and limit the governor’s veto authority.

“Governor Evers has abused his power time and time again — from shutting down churches to single-handedly creating a 402-year tax increase — and these amendments would restore necessary guardrails to protect individual rights,” MacIver CEO Annette Olson said.

The proposed amendments will be included on the November general election ballot. MacIver was a major leader last year in overwhelmingly passing a Constitutional amendment to ensure only eligible citizens can vote in our elections.
