MADISON, Wis. — As the Wisconsin Supreme Court race heats up, far-right candidate Maria Lazar is desperately trying to downplay her extreme views on abortion, including support for a six-week abortion ban and her admission that she would have kept the state’s 1849 abortion ban in place. Lazar’s extreme views are also held by GOP gubernatorial frontrunner Tom Tiffany, as well as frontline legislative candidates like AD-51 Rep. Todd Novak, AD-85 Rep. Pat Snyder, SD-5 candidate Rob Hutton, and SD-17 Candidate Howard Marklein. By 2028, the GOP could control the judicial, legislative, and executive branches and institute a six-week abortion ban.

“Maria Lazar, Tom Tiffany, and a slate of GOP legislative candidates aren’t going to be able to outrun their support for an archaic and dangerous six-week abortion ban that allows politicians, not patients and doctors, to make personal medical decisions,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “Supreme Court Justice Maria Lazar would rubber stamp a six-week abortion ban that the GOP legislature put on Governor Tom Tiffany’s desk. That’s why it’s so important we do everything we can to win this supreme court race in April and secure a blue trifecta next November.”

See below for some Wisconsin GOP legislators who support extreme anti-abortion policies:

AD-21 Rep. Jesse Rodriguez

AD-30 Rep. Shannon Zimmerman

AD-51 Rep. Todd Novak

AD-53 Rep. Dean Kaufert

AD-61 Rep. Bob Donovan

AD-85 Rep. Pat Snyder

AD-92 Rep. Clint Moses

SD-5 Sen. Rob Hutton

SD-17 Sen. Howard Marklein

SD-21 Sen. Van Wanggaard

SD-25 Sen. Romaine Quinn

SD-31 Sen. Jesse James
