WisDems Chair Statement on Ice Executing American Citizen
MADISON, Wis. — In response to ICE executing an American citizen, WisDems Chair Devin Remiker released the following statement:
“A 37-year-old American citizen is dead because the Trump administration has directed ICE to act with zero regard for the law and to incite violence in our communities. Their chaos campaign to distract people from the Trump administration’s stunning economic failure has destroyed families, communities, and now has put an entire city and nation on edge. The refusal of ICE to pause operations in the wake of this tragedy turns them more into an occupying force than anything resembling law enforcement. It is more important than ever to do our duty as Americans— never back down in the face of oppression and stand with those who are under attack.”
