Gov. Evers Signs Executive Order #283 Declaring an Energy Emergency
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today announced he has signed Executive Order #283, extending the energy emergency in the state of Wisconsin. Due to persistent challenges caused by a pipeline disruption within the Midwestern pipeline distribution system, coupled with high demand for residential heating fuel, including heating oil and propane, Executive Order #283 will support the swift and efficient delivery of these products throughout the state. Executive Order #283 replaces Executive Order #282 signed by Gov. Evers on December 5th.
“The health, welfare, and safety of our neighbors depend on access to fuel for home heating, and as disruptions continue, this emergency declaration will help ensure folks and families across the state have the fuel they need to stay warm and safe,” said Gov. Evers.According to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin’s Office of Energy Innovation, multiple suppliers report continued challenges with having to drive further distances to collect needed products.
Executive Order #283 extends the waiver of certain state and federal hours of service and adds a waiver to state weight limit restrictions, allowing suppliers to get caught up from the pipeline and weather-related delays. The waiver remains in effect through January 16 or as long as drivers transporting residential heating fuel are responding to the emergency, whichever is shorter.
