WFHR Wisconsin Rapids flips to “Local News and Timeless Hits”
Wisconsin Rapids, WI (December 15, 2025) – WFHR 1320 / 97.5 and parent Civic Media are excited to announce a format change launching today, blending essential local news coverage with beloved oldies music. Branded as “Local News and Timeless Hits,” the station will deliver CBS News at the top of each hour, feature local voices throughout the day, and showcase a carefully curated selection of music from the 1960s and 1970s.
WFHR has been a cornerstone of Wisconsin Rapids broadcasting since 1940. Throughout its rich history, the station has aired a wide variety of formats. Most recently, WFHR was News/Talk after Civic Media acquired the station in 2022.
“WFHR has always been about serving and informing the community, and we will continue that mission for years to come,” said Kory Hartman, COO of Civic Media. “We’re combining the news and information that people need with the timeless music they love. It’s the best of both worlds.”
The shift back to incorporating oldies music honors WFHR’s heritage while maintaining the station’s dedication to local journalism and community engagement that listeners have come to expect under Civic Media’s ownership.
