What is Tom Tiffany Hiding? Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Skips Another Public Forum

MADISON, Wis. — Today marks the second time in as many weeks that Republican Tom Tiffany won’t bother to show up to a public forum for Wisconsin’s gubernatorial candidates. In addition to Nov. 6 gubernatorial forum, only a month after he was caught scrubbing his radical views on abortion and guns from his website.

Notably, Tiffany’s missed appearances occurred while the gubernatorial candidate hadn’t shown up to his job as a Congressman for nearly two months. Until yesterday, Tiffany and the GOP-controlled House had only worked 11 total days between August and November – while still picking up a paycheck.

A Better Wisconsin Together Communications Director Lucy Ripp says Wisconsinites deserve to know where the candidates vying for our state’s highest office stand on the issues that are impacting our communities, and Tiffany’s chronic absence from these forums coupled with efforts to erase his platform from his website raise serious red flags.

“Tom Tiffany knows his record and agenda are wildly out of step with everyday Wisconsinites, so instead of meaningfully listening to their concerns on a public stage, his solution is to dodge accountability by not showing up at all,” said Ripp. “But unfortunately for Tiffany, the internet is forever and no amount of conveniently timed scheduling conflicts or website scrubs can erase his long documented history of right wing extremism.”

From attempting to ban abortion and cozying up to election deniers, to dodging state income taxes and protecting billionaires at the expense of hardworking Wisconsin families, we’ve rounded up ten of Tom Tiffany’s most terrible truths, which can be viewed here.

“The people of Wisconsin deserve honesty and transparency from our elected officials,” said Ripp. “If Tom Tiffany is so ashamed of Wisconsinites knowing the truth about his record and beliefs then maybe he should consider a different career.”
