WisDems Chair Statement on Republicans Taking Away ACA Funding
Nearly 300,000 Wisconsinites Could See Their Premiums Go Up
MADISON, Wis. — In response to Republicans voting to end Affordable Care Act funding, WisDems Chair Devin Remiker released the following statement:
“Tonight, Republicans made their choice clear: despite finding over a trillion dollars in tax cuts for billionaires like Elon Musk, they claimed they could not reopen the government without cutting ACA funding, and that’s exactly what they did.“While Tom Tiffany, Derrick Van Orden, and Bryan Steil, receive taxpayer-funded health care, they decided that nearly 300,000 of their fellow Wisconsinites should have to face unaffordable and life-threatening health care premium increases.
“We’re not backing down or giving up on this fight. The stakes of the 2026 election are more clear than ever: affordable and accessible health care for Wisconsinites, or massive tax breaks for billionaires. We know what side we’re on, and Wisconsinites will know too.”
