MPD Officer Involved Shooting
MILWAUKEE, WI— On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at approximately 11:27 p.m., Milwaukee Police officers conducted a traffic stop on the 1200 block of W. Greenfield Avenue.
The driver stopped, exited the vehicle, fled on foot and a foot pursuit ensued. The officers gave the suspect commands to stop; however, the suspect refused and continue to flee. During the foot pursuit, the suspect dropped a firearm and attempted to retrieve it at which time an officer discharged his firearm, subsequently striking the suspect. No one else was struck by gunfire.
The suspect, a 21-year-old male, was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries. The suspect’s firearm was recovered. He was arrested and criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
Our officer that discharged his firearm is a 26-year-old male with over 6 years of service. Our officer will be placed on administrative duty as is routine in officer involved shootings.
The Milwaukee Police Homicide Unit will be investigating this incident.
This is a fluid and ongoing investigation.
