Congresswoman Gwen Moore Statement on Gaza

“More than 18 months into this war, now more than ever, is the time to increase efforts to secure peace, the release of hostages, and an end to the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Instead, the decision to pursue a full occupation of Gaza – over the reported opposition of his own military leadership – is an egregious escalation in a war that has already claimed tens of thousands of civilian lives and pushed millions to the brink of starvation, including children. I urge Prime Minister Netanyahu to reverse course and the Trump Administration to strongly oppose this ill-advised plan and renew its efforts to help bring an end to the fighting in a way that isolates Hamas and secures the release of the remaining hostages.

And for civilians in Gaza, even accessing aid has become deadly, as men, women, and children have been shot and killed trying to seek the already inadequate amounts of food that is available. Food should never be weaponized against civilians.

These escalations in the war will not get us closer to peace nor will they guarantee the long-term safety and security that Israelis and Palestinians alike are crying out for.”
