Alderman Lamont Westmoreland invites residents to a night of entertainment and community at 2025 Rooted Together in the 5th, a free community event happening on Wednesday, August 20 (rain date: August 27) starting at 5 p.m. at Wellpoint Care Network8901 W. Capitol Dr.

The outdoor event will kick off with a live performance by the Donna Woodall Group, a Milwaukee-based favorite known for performing at St. Kate Arts Hotel, Jazz in the Park, Summerfest, and more. Beginning her career with Eddie Butts Band and Streetlife, Donna brings soul and energy to all of her music.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., just after sunset, the featured movie Remember the Titans will be shown under the stars. The powerful film tells the true story of a racially divided high school football team in the initial stages of school desegregation. Through hard work, mutual respect, and shared experiences the team and community learn to overcome their differences, a message that is very valuable today.

In addition to music and film, attendees can enjoy a variety of local food trucks offering everything from burgers and gyros to tacos, BBQ, and ice cream. Free popcorn will be available while supplies last. A portion of food sales will benefit Wellpoint Care Network, a nonprofit supporting children and families in Milwaukee through programs that promote equity, learning, healing, and wellness.

Guests are also encouraged to bring boxes of healthy cereal, which will be collected on-site to help Wellpoint’s food pantry, which is currently facing a severe shortage.

“This isn’t just a movie night, it’s a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together as a community,” said Alderman Westmoreland. “Bring your family, bring your chairs, and come be a part of something rooted in unity and love for our community.”
