Nominations Being Accepted for 2nd Annual District 5 Beautification Award
Alderman Lamont Westmoreland is seeking the very best residential and commercial landscaping for the 2nd Annual District 5 Beautification Award. The recognition program, part of the Alderman’s larger district-wide beautification project, seeks to recognize outstanding landscaping efforts and promote pride in local neighborhoods.
Nominations will be accepted starting Wednesday, July 8 and will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22. Nominations can be made by emailing Lamont.Westmoreland@milwaukee.gov or by calling (414) 286-3870, and should include the address of the District 5 residence or business being nominated. Nominations must be made by a District 5 resident OR business owner, and homeowners and business owners may also nominate themselves. Once the nomination window has closed, the local beautification committee will conduct a district tour starting August 1 to select a winner and runner up.
Additionally, finalists will receive yard signs for recognition, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place winners will be announced during the week of August 10th.
“Beautifully maintained properties can serve to enhance pride in a neighborhood, as well as boost the overall quality of life for the area,” Alderman Westmoreland said. “I believe that those who go above and beyond to maintain their property deserve special recognition, so please — if you or someone you know lives in the 5th District and fits this description — I would strongly encourage you to submit a nomination for this award.”
