Brewers Acquire Outfielder Brandon Lockridge
Send Left-Handed Pitcher Nestor Cortes and Infielder Jorge Quintana to San Diego
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired outfielder Brandon Lockridge from the San Diego Padres in exchange for left-handed pitcher Nestor Cortes, infielder Jorge Quintana and cash. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.
Lockridge tied for third in all of Triple-A in stolen bases with 46 in 104 games in 2024 between Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (72g) and El Paso (32g), batting .306/.410/.397 with 3 HR and 28 RBI. He was was acquired by San Diego from New York-AL in exchange for right-handed pitchers Enyel De Los Santos and Thomas Balboni on July 30, 2024 and made his Major League debut for the Padres on September 13, 2024.
Selected by New York-AL in the fifth round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Troy University, Lockridge was named the best defensive outfielder in the Yankees system by Baseball America in 2023.
Cortes, 30, made 2 starts for the Brewers before being placed on the 15-day injured list on April 6 with a left elbow flexor strain, and was transferred to the 60-day injured list on April 21. He was acquired from New York-AL along with infielder Caleb Durbin and cash in exchange for right-handed pitcher Devin Williams on December 13.
