Common Council action paves way for new development at Timmerman Plaza

By - Jul 15th, 2025 03:36 pm

The Common Council adopted today (Tuesday, July 15), file #250150 – a substitute ordinance relating to the Detailed Planned Development known as Timmerman Plaza to amend the permitted use list. The former Walmart site located at 10330 W. Silver Spring Dr. is slated to become a Restaurant Depot after indoor wholesale and distribution has now been added to the list of permitted uses.

2nd District Alderman Mark Chambers, Jr. looks forward to the impact this project will have for the area. “When Walmart left the Timmerman Plaza site in 2023, we started looking for the right partner to take over that space and provide a boost for the district,” said Alderman Chambers. “I’m glad that Restaurant Depot will open up their newest store at this site and provide several dozen jobs in the process. We also have other plans in the works to enhance the offerings at Timmerman Plaza, and I look forward to sharing more details about that in the future.”

Alderman Chambers also notes the partnership and collaboration it took to get this far in the process. “I want to thank the Department of City Development for their work on this, as well as my colleague Alderman Lamont Westmoreland, who was also a tremendous partner on this front.”
