Milwaukee, Wis. – The Christ Child Society of Milwaukee is pleased to announce the celebration of the 30th anniversary of its Resale Shop, located at 4033 W. Good Hope Rd., Milwaukee, Wis. A commemorative event will take place Saturday, August 9 that will include a special 10 a.m. Mass at neighboring Our Lady of Good Hope, followed by a reception at the Resale Shop.

“Since its inception, the volunteer-run Christ Child Society Resale Shop has made significant contributions to our work supporting children and families in the Milwaukee area, including raising $1,296,092 over 30 years. Additionally, we provide low-cost, high-quality goods for shoppers in the neighborhood and throughout Milwaukee,” said Cathy Smaglik, director, Milwaukee Christ Child Society Resale Shop.

The Resale Shop opened at the former Our Lady of Sorrows convent in April 1995, an outgrowth of an annual rummage sale CCS members hosted for many years. The shop relocated to a building at Our Lady of Good Hope campus in December 2004, where it has continued to thrive, generating $829,607 from December 2004 through June 2025.

Bishop Donald J. Hying, 5th Bishop of Madison, who was the pastor at Our Lady of Good Hope parish when the Christ Child Society moved the shop, will help celebrate this milestone. All parish members, Christ Child Society members, neighbors and friends are invited to join the August 9 Mass and reception. To mark this special occasion, the Resale Shop will host a special sale on most items.

“This celebration is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the amazing volunteers and shoppers who have supported us over the years,” Smaglik said. Currently more than a dozen members volunteer each week at the store, which is filled with clothing for the entire family, housewares, linens, furniture, books, toys, fine china, glassware, jewelry, seasonal items and more. All items are in good to excellent condition and are affordably priced.

The income generated by the Resale Shop is used to support Christ Child Society programs vital to the Milwaukee area community. Shop hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and the first and third Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
