Kam Jones Selected 38th Overall In NBA Draft

Consensus All-America honoree 61st player in program history selected

By - Jun 26th, 2025 08:40 pm

Senior guard Kam Jones (Memphis, TN/Evangelical Christian School) of the Marquette University men’s basketball program was selected 38th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Thursday night.

San Antonio traded the rights to the 38th pick to the Pacers on Wednesday, so Jones will be joining Indiana, which advanced to the NBA Finals earlier this month. Jones and the Golden Eagles played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the Pacers, in the 2024 NCAA tournament, winning a pair of games to advance to the Sweet 16.

MU has had 60 players previously selected in the NBA Draft, beginning with Gene Berce (New York) in 1948. Marquette has had at least one player selected in the draft in each of the last three seasons. Olivier-Maxence Prosper was selected 24th overall in 2023 by Sacramento but was traded that night to Dallas. In 2024, Tyler Kolek (New York) and Oso Ighodaro (Phoenix) were picked 34th and 40th, respectively.

Jones was a Consensus Second Team All-America honoree and unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection as a senior in 2024-25. He averaged 19.2 points per outing and his 5.9 assists per game ranked among the national leaders. He was a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award (nation’s top point guard) in his first season playing the position and finished second all-time at Marquette in scoring (2,044 points).

Jones joins former Marquette players Jimmy Butler (Golden State), Jamal Cain (New Orleans), Jae Crowder (Sacramento), Oso Ighodaro (Phoenix), Tyler Kolek (New York) and Olivier-Maxence Prosper (Dallas) currently active in the NBA ranks. Doc Rivers, head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, is also a Marquette alum.
