Track & Field Completes Final Day at Drake Relays Saturday
Ward, Hollander javelins throws highlight three-day competition for MU
DES MOINES, Iowa – Marquette University track & field competed at the Drake Relays this weekend at Drake Stadium’s Blue Oval.
“It was a bit of an up and down weekend,” Bert Rogers said. “We had a few big performances and a few that didn’t go like we planned, but we will learn from those and improve. Drake is a terrific big meet experience and we love the challenge of competing against the best.”
The team of Makena Coltoff, Julia Beck, Olivia Verden and Hannah McVey set a new program record 1:02.52 race in the shuttle hurdle relay on Saturday.
The team of Justin Juniel, Niels De Brouckere, Frankie McGee and Aaron Hughes finished fifth in the finals of the 4×100 relay at 42.14 seconds.
McGee, De Brouckere, Hughes and K.T. Thomas ran the 10th fastest time in program history in the 4×200 at 1:28.99 on Friday night.
Emma Coon finished eighth in the 5000-meter at 17:11.27 for a new PR by over one a minute on Thursday night.
Cole Donahe finished the decathlon with 6,101 points, good for the ninth-best performance in program history.
UP NEXT: Marquette travels to Madison for the Badger Invite on Friday, May 2.
