WLAX Drops Home Contest to Denver Wednesday Afternoon
Golden Eagles travel to Villanova Sunday
The Marquette University women’s lacrosse team continued BIG EAST play Wednesday with a 23-10 loss to Denver at Valley Fields.
The Golden Eagles (8-4, 2-1 BIG EAST) were led by Meg Bireley, who netted six goals and had one assist. Bireley became the first BIG EAST player to hit 50 goals on the season.Marquette led 7-4 after the first quarter before Denver went on a 10-0 run in the second to lead 14-7 at halftime.
Denver (8-4, 3-0 BIG EAST) was led by Olivia Ripple who had 10 goals.
NOTABLES:
- Meg Bireley moved into a tie for seventh on the all-time assist list with 50 for her career.
- Lily Dietrich had her third game of the season with three caused turnovers.
- Molly Powers had a career-high four caused turnovers.
