Daniel Bauman Stands Up for Milwaukee Public Schools, Earns Endorsements from Education Leaders
MILWAUKEE – With Milwaukee Public Schools under attack from state politicians and privatization efforts, Common Council candidate Daniel Bauman is making a strong commitment to defend and strengthen public education. As an MPS graduate, Bauman understands firsthand how critical well-funded public schools are to the future of Milwaukee.
Bauman’s platform includes:
✔ Investing in MPS – Fighting for fully funded public schools with the resources teachers, students, and support staff need while opposing efforts to divert funds into private voucher and non-MPS charter schools.
✔ Pushing Back Against State Overreach – Resisting Madison’s repeated attempts to take control of Milwaukee schools, ensuring that MPS remains accountable to the communities it serves rather than out-state legislators.
✔ Keeping Public Schools Public – Defending the democratically elected school board and opposing takeover attempts that would strip Milwaukee residents of their ability to govern their own school system. The city should not be in the business of chartering schools—public schools should be accountable to MPS.
Bauman’s commitment to public education has earned him the support of Milwaukee education leaders, including MPS School Board Vice President Jilly Gokalgandhi and former Board President Bob Peterson.
“MPS needs elected officials who will stand with public schools, not sell them out to privatization schemes,” said Jilly Gokalgandhi. “Daniel Bauman is a proud product of Milwaukee Public Schools, he’s fighting for the same strong public education system for future generations. I know he’ll be a fierce advocate for MPS on the Common Council.”
Former MPS Board President Bob Peterson echoed that sentiment: “Daniel Bauman understands that public education is a foundation of democracy and must be protected from privatizers at the city, state and national level. We need leaders on the Common Council who will protect and strengthen MPS. Please vote for Daniel Bauman on April 1.”
“I’m ready to stand up to the attacks on MPS, fight for real investment in our schools, and ensure that every child in Milwaukee has access to a quality public education,” Bauman said.
The Special Election for Milwaukee’s 3rd Aldermanic District will take place on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025. For more information on Daniel Bauman’s campaign, visit DanielBaumanForMKE.com.
