A medical equipment manufacturer plans to build a new $50 million facility in Franklin to support its breast implant business.

Tiger Aesthetics Medical, a subsidiary of Pennsylvania-based tissue engineering company Tiger Biosciences, announced its plans for a “state-of-the-art” facility in Franklin on Thursday.

Last year, the company acquired a breast implant business of California-based Sientra, including a manufacturing facility in Franklin.

Tiger Aesthetics says the buildout of its new 120,000-square-foot facility is expected to occur over the next three years. The company says the move will allow it to double its local workforce by 2028, but didn’t say how many employees it currently has.

“We are proud to invest in our Operations team in Wisconsin,” said Scott Madden, co-CEO of Tiger BioSciences, in a statement. “Our Franklin staff exemplifies the tenacity and expertise critical to creating a transformative business.”

Oliver Burckhardt, co-CEO of Tiger BioSciences, said in a statement that the new facility in Franklin is part of a “broader strategy” for domestic manufacturing.

“For all of our major product lines, we strongly believe in producing what we sell right here in the USA,” Burckhardt stated.
