By - Mar 1st, 2025 09:22 pm

The No. 21/22 Marquette University men’s basketball team (22-7, 13-5 BIG EAST) continued BIG EAST Conference play on Saturday night with a 76-61 victory at Georgetown (16-13, 7-11 BIG EAST) in Capital One Arena.

Kam Jones finished with 13 points and 13 assists for his fifth-career double-double, all this season.  With the victory, the Golden Eagles assured themselves of a top-five finish in the BIG EAST and an opening-round bye in the league tourney.

MU led by as many as 28 points early in the second half, but Georgetown refused to go away down the stretch, closing the gap to just 12 points before the Golden Eagles used a 6-0 run to create some breathing room with 3:09 left.

The Golden Eagles led 39-22 at the intermission after shooting 55.2 percent from the floor and holding the Hoyas to just 5-of-26 (19.2 percent) from the field.  MU led by as many as 20 points and Jones had nine first-half assists.

Notables:

  • Forward Ben Gold finished with 15 points, marking the third time in his career (all this season) he has scored double figures in back-to-back games
  • Jones 12 assists marked a career high and he has scored double figures in 45-straight games, which is tied for the longest-active streak
