Sen. Shilling statement on parent-led school advocacy
"It is unfortunate that legislators in the majority party have chosen to disparage these parents and dismiss the concerns of families who are trying to advocate for Wisconsin’s children."
MADISON – Following the ongoing antagonism toward parent-led school advocacy organizations by legislative Republicans, Senate Democratic Leader Jennifer Shilling (D-La Crosse) issued the following statement:
“Families and parents have every right to express their concerns with the cuts to education being forced on local communities by Gov. Walker and legislative Republicans. It is unfortunate that legislators in the majority party have chosen to disparage these parents and dismiss the concerns of families who are trying to advocate for Wisconsin’s children.
“Families across Wisconsin, from Wauwatosa to La Crosse and the Fox Valley to Sun Prairie, have serious concerns about the underfunding of our schools and the lack of opportunities for children. I encourage my Republican colleagues to sit down and talk with these parents to better understand the damage being inflicted on public schools across Wisconsin.”
