Rep. Fitzgerald Statement on Passage of FY25 Budget Resolution

By - Feb 25th, 2025 10:27 pm

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) issued the following statement in response to the passage of the FY25 Budget Resolution.

“House Republicans delivered on key promises to the American people by passing this Budget Resolution. We took decisive action towards our goals of extending the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts to support hardworking families, securing the border, and reducing inflation by cutting government spending,” said Congressman Fitzgerald. “Our budget achieves $1.5 trillion in mandatory savings over the next decade, restoring fiscal responsibility while advancing President Trump’s America First agenda.”

Despite misleading claims, the FY25 Budget Resolution does not cut Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid. Congressman Fitzgerald is committed to rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse while ensuring those who have earned and need these benefits still receive them.

According to the non-partisan Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, if this bill passes, those who make more than $360,000 will have their taxes CUT. Those who make less than that will be paying MORE. This is crazy!!!!!

Why don’t the wealthy think they have to pay their fair share after they’ve benefitted from this country’s resources? Additionally, we should not be burdening our children with an additional $2.8 trillion deficit over the next ten years.

Here’s Fitzy doing the bidding of the Speaker and the Felon-In-Chief, and then patting himself on the back while lying about what this bill really does. Just a couple of days ago Mike Johnson said he thought that Leon’s idea of sending out $5000 stimulus checks was a bad idea.

Johnson – “But if you think about our core principles, right, fiscal responsibility is what we do as conservatives. That’s our brand. And we have a $36 trillion federal debt, we have a giant deficit that we’re contending with. I think we need to pay down the credit card, right?” Johnson said.

So, Fitzy and Mr. Johnson…..How does increasing the national debt by almost $3 trillion with this bill decrease the national debt? How is this fiscally responsible? How does this represent your core principles?

I have an answer to the last question. It proves the Republican party is a group of hypocrites, liars, grifters, and thieves.

Do these guys think we are all idiots?!?

The budget resolution by itself may not cut Medicare or Medicaid, but implementation of the budget resolution will require those cuts. Oh, Scott Fitzgerald is such a wordsmith.
