Wauwatosa event celebrates Wisconsin in winter

Flannelpalooza, presented by The Flannel Fox, hits the Village on Feb. 8 with an expanded footprint; even more cold-weather food and activities

WAUWATOSA, WISCONSIN, January 23, 2025—The Village of Wauwatosa is celebrating National Flannel Day with Flannelpalooza presented by The Flannel Fox—an outdoor event with winter activities, food, beverages, and vendors.

Designed to celebrate the fun and culture of flannel, Flannelpalooza will take place on February 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Harwood Ave. between State Street and Wauwatosa Avenue. After a resoundingly successful first year for the event in 2024, organizers are looking forward to an expanded footprint in 2025, with Harwood Avenue closed to traffic to allow even more space for winter fun.

“Wisconsinites are always looking for ways to get out and have fun during the winter months,” says Melyssa Bauer, one of the event organizers and a co-owner of the Village boutique The Flannel Fox. “This year we’re going even bigger and better, with a hot lineup of cold-weather enjoyment all day long.”

Flannelpalooza will include axe throwing, an ice sculpture demonstration presented by Discover Wauwatosa, chainsaw carving, a pub crawl sponsored by Rustic Oak Craft Cocktails, “Foxiest LiT Beard” Competition with LiT Beard Co., and a “Best Dressed Dog” contest sponsored by Bentley’s Pet Stuff.

The event will also feature a winter clothing drive sponsored by Milwaukee-based apparel company Muk Luks. Donations of winter gloves, mens’ jeans, men’s coats, and other items for the Street Angels outreach program can be dropped off at collection points throughout the event.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase including beer on tap courtesy of a special tap car from Draft & Vessel, a hot chocolate bar from Tabal Chocolate, and offerings from Buckatabon Tavern & Supper Club, Le Reve Patisserie & Café, and The Village Cheese Shop.

Event schedule:

• Best Dressed Dog Contest – 12 p.m.

• Ice Carving Demonstration – 1-2:30 p.m.

• Foxiest Lit Beard Contest – 2:30 p.m.; Winners Announced – 4 p.m.

• Pub Crawl – pick up your Pub Crawl Passport starting at 10 am, Pub Crawl begins at 4 pm

Vendors participating in the event include Rustic Oak Craft Cocktails, Muk Luks, Big Cock Candles, and LiT Beard Company.
