WEC Gears Up To Approve Spring Candidates
MADISON – The Wisconsin Elections Commission is gearing up for a Jan. 14 meeting where commissioners will review the sufficiency of submitted candidate materials to determine whether state-level candidates will be placed on the ballot for the Spring Primary and/or Spring Election.
A total of 56 state-level candidates submitted nomination papers with the WEC by the deadline, and WEC staff have completed initial reviews of all candidate nomination papers. The Commission does not approve ballot access for school district, municipal, or county level positions or referenda. Ballot access for those candidates and referenda questions is determined locally.
A full list of the candidates who turned in nomination papers to the WEC is available on the WEC’s website: https://elections.wi.gov/elections. The list may be updated.
Nomination papers can be viewed at the WEC’s Badger Voters website: https://badgervoters.wi.gov/.
Next, state law and administrative code allow for challenges to candidate materials to be filed, which can determine whether a candidate is granted ballot access.
A candidate’s ballot access is not official until the Commission addresses any challenges and votes to approve or deny ballot access at its upcoming Jan. 14 ballot access meeting. The meeting notice and materials will be posted here: https://elections.wi.gov/event/ballot-access-meeting-1142025
